Canadian Passport Renewal

October 27, 2009

This is an important FYI for all Canadian citizens residing or working in Asia, South America, Europe, or Africa. Your Canadian passport must have at least 6 months of validity in order to pass through immigration in most nations. Also, you cannot extend the validity of your passport, so you may find yourself simply applying for a new one. Passport Canada’s “Simplified Passport Renewal Process” only works for residents in Canada or the United States. Make sure you have available pages on your passport, or you may find yourself even unable to receive a visa for even a visit or day trip – (Countries like China issue a visa for your Canadian Passport with a whole page stamp and you need to have the room – also – you cannot add pages to your Canadian passport).  This is where Canadian passport renewal and review is key.
