New Adult Canadian Passport

As a Canadian citizen, you must have a valid Canadian passport to travel internationally and to enter the United States.

You Must Apply for a New Adult Passport If:

  • You are applying for your first Canadian adult passport
  • Your last adult passport was issued more than 15 years ago
  • Your current passport was issued when you were under 16 years old
  • You need to change your personal information (name, date of birth, sex, or place of birth)
  • Your passport has been reported lost or stolen
  • Your passport is damaged and cannot be used for travel
  • Your previous passport did not have a 5-year or 10-year validity period

If you’re unsure which process applies to you—new passport or renewal—our team can help you determine the correct application type.
